Drummer became a General

The band - the Ventures - had a young drummer for their first hit song and then they had to let him go because he was only 17 and could not play in the local clubs. The kid joined the Air Force and became a 4 star general. Years later he came back to the band to play one more time.

TOMBIGBEE Waterway from the LANDING A DAY BLOG

We recently camped out at an Army Corps campsite on the Tombigbee waterway. It was a great campsite. BUT - I wanted to know more about the river and the waterway itself - recalling that a recently deceased friend from Chumuckla (Clyde Moore) had piloted tugs on this waterway 20 plus year ago. FOUND THIS BLOG. It is a very interesting blog concept - the author "lands" on random google map spots daily and researches the area for readers. How about that?

INTERVIEW VIDEO

Interview with the Author of "Heartless Panther" Brian Sullivan (at Fort Mims).
The book is an ebook from Amazon  This  historical novel brings the age of the Creek Wars and the War of 1812 into some clarity for the Gulf Coast Region.  It is worth it just to learn some of the actual history and to learn some of the cultural aspects of the various people living in the region at the time. Plus - it is a quite well told tale with fascinating interwoven plots - all connected to the history.

I had to laugh very loud at this. However, I think there are the self same characters in Dixie only they say a different set of quotes.
